Treating individuals with sleep apnea is my passion. Patients tell me that their custom oral appliance is giving them so much more energy, they are sleeping better at night, they are not snoring, and they love that they do not have to use their CPAP anymore. I have seen custom oral appliances change people’s lives. It certainly changed mine.
Dr. Vandervelden’s Story:
I personally have sleep apnea and used to wear a CPAP before switching to a custom oral appliance. I was skeptical at first but to my surprise, it worked so well that I do not need my CPAP anymore. I have been trained and certified by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine to provide custom oral appliance therapy to treat sleep apnea and snoring. I have successfully used custom oral appliance therapy to treat many patients at my practice. Patients say it works, it is comfortable, and they love it. Only Dentists with specialized training can provide custom oral appliance therapy.

Personal Life
I was born in a small farm town in the Netherlands. My grandpa and father operated a wooden shoe factory there for many years. When I was 7 years old our family moved to Holland, MI where we have lived ever since. When I am not working, I love to spend time with my lovely wife Cassie. Our hobbies and interests include sailing, mountain biking, skiing, paddleboarding, hiking, reading, campfires, and family game nights.
I am a born again Christian and a believer in Jesus Christ. He has changed my life.
